Two members of Takeda Executive Team had the chance to connect virtually with retail investors last month at the Nomura IR Asset Management Fair 2022.
Representative Director Masato Iwasaki, Japan General Affairs, spoke about Takeda’s 240-year heritage and how our long-standing values still guide our philosophy and how we do business today as a values-based, global, R&D-driven biopharmaceutical company. Within this, our Patients, People, and Planet imperatives form the basis of our approach to ESG, including our initiatives in the areas of carbon emissions, water supply, and waste management. Takeda’s 240th anniversary branding campaign and slogan "Takeda Serves the World—Innovatively. With our Values” launched in Japan recently and tells this story of heritage, values and innovation.
Corporate Strategy Officer and Chief of Staff Koki Sato’s presentation focused on Takeda's business strategy and portfolio. Takeda’s growth is driven by our 14 global brands, and our bold R&D strategy combines our focus on innovative medicines in our four core therapeutic areas of oncology, rare genetics and hematology, neuroscience and gastroenterology with targeted investments in plasma-derived therapies and vaccines. Our diverse pipeline includes approximately 40 clinical-stage assets that are expected to drive long-term and sustained growth, and our robust partnership model is designed to access innovation wherever it originates. One example of these partnerships is T-CiRA, a joint research program with the Center for iPS Cell Research and Application (CiRA) and Kyoto University to develop clinical applications of iPS cells.
Closing the presentation, Masato Iwasaki provided an overview of Takeda’s approach to shareholder returns, explained our capital allocation policy, and highlighted the company’s steady reduction of net debt.
We look forward to additional opportunities in the future to engage with our investors in Japan and across the world.
