Climate-ready healthcare: Our 2026 global CSR programs

Manuel Patrouillard, director general of Humanity & Inclusion – Handicap International, a global aid organization that works alongside people with disabilities and individuals experiencing extreme hardship, is excited by the potential of our new global corporate social responsibility (CSR) program. Each year, Takeda employees vote to choose the innovative nonprofit organizations that receive support through our corporate giving program. This year, we’re backing four new projects through multi-year commitments designed to strengthen climate-resilient health systems with innovative, lasting solutions.
USD 6.4 million for Corus International’s program, which aims to link climate-adaptive early warning, resilient service delivery and disaster preparedness to protect the continuity of essential health services in Nepal.
USD 6.1 million in support of Humanity & Inclusion – Handicap International’s work to strengthen inclusive, climate-resilient health systems by building workforce capacity, community preparedness and accessible facility adaptation in Honduras and Peru.
USD 5.1 million for the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology’s initiative aimed at elevating the local pharmacy workforce as frontline leaders, advancing climate-responsive care through capacity building and greener practices in Ghana.
USD 4.6 million for Terre des hommes Foundation’s program to build climate‑resilient primary healthcare through facility retrofits, early warning and community preparedness in Egypt and Lebanon.
All funding commitments listed are aggregated over multi-year funding terms.
These new programs bring our total contributions across all CSR sponsored organizations to approximately USD 260.9 million since 2016.
Because climate change has such widespread impact on health outcomes around the world, Giles Platford, president of International Business Unit at Takeda, believes tackling it requires the same long-term approach that has guided Takeda’s success for more than two centuries.

It requires working with local partners who understand the needs in their communities and can help strengthen the systems people rely on. We’re proud to support this year’s awardees as they address the challenging effects of climate change on healthcare systems and patients.”
