Osaka, Japan, March 4, 2021 – Takeda Pharmaceutical Company Limited (TSE: 4502/NYSE:TAK) (“Takeda”) today announced it has entered into a strategic partnership with Enzyre to accelerate the development of Enzyre’s proprietary platform Enzypad to enable patients to test their blood coagulation in a home setting. The partnership builds on an existing research collaboration agreement with Enzyre signed in December 2019 and close collaboration over the last five years.

Takeda is committed to addressing unmet medical needs and improving the standard of care for those living with rare bleeding disorders, through strategic partnerships and investment in innovative solutions in personalized care and treatment. Hemophilia Enzycard, the first product using Enzypad, will enable hemophilia patients to test in a home setting, transferring coagulation results to the treating physician through a mobile app. This will allow for timely personalized therapy adjustments which may improve outcomes while potentially avoiding patient hospital visits. The Enzypad platform is also being investigated for use in other coagulation disorders. The benefits offered by the Enzypad platform support the shared goal of Takeda and Enzyre to improve the lives of those living with rare bleeding disorders.

Hemophilia is a chronic disease that causes longer-than-normal bleeding due to absent or deficient clotting factor in the blood.1 People with hemophilia, working closely with their healthcare professionals, can live healthy lives with proper care and adequate treatment.2 However, it can be a complex condition to manage and the urgent need for a diagnostic device which is easy to use, reliable and affordable has been acknowledged globally.3
