Osaka, Japan, June 16, 2016 – Takeda Pharmaceutical Company Limited (TSE: 4502) today announced the decision for three projects to be subsidized in the second year (October 2015 to September 2016) of the Civil Society Initiative Subsidy Program « Takeda Well-Being Program II : Giving Children in Long-term Treatment the Energy to Live » (Implementation period : October 2014 to September 2019).

The Program aims to sponsor organizations that provide support to children undergoing long-term treatment for diseases and their families and is a long-term subsidy program that continues for ten years over Phase I (2009-2014) and Phase II (2014-2019). The Program is run by a non-profit organization, the Civil Society Initiative Fund (CSIF), which manages the funds from Takeda. Recipient projects are reviewed annually by the CSIF, and the following three additional projects have been selected for this year.

Outline of the "Takeda Well-Being Program"

1. Scope of Program
The Program supports civil activities that assist children undergoing long-term treatment and their families and lead to enhancement of the psychological, cultural and societal quality of life and the resilience for life.
1) Activities for developing human resources and building a network inside and outside a hospital;
2) Assistance in home and community life; and
3) Other new activities.

2. Support mechanism
Planned subsidy by invitation only: CSIF contacts each NPO to discuss the detail of each project with them, obtains advice from experts, then reviews to select the projects on behalf of Takeda. 

3. Implementation period
Five years from October 2014 to September 2019.

4. Subsidy amount (for total of Phase II)
JPY50 million
