Medical Tribune, Inc. (Head office: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; “Medical Tribune”) and Takeda Pharmaceutical Company Limited (Head office: Chuo-ku, Osaka; “Takeda”) hereby announce that the two companies have transfered all shares of Nippon-Rinshosha Limited (Head office: Chuo-ku, Osaka; “Nippon-Rinshosha”) held by Takeda to Medical Tribune. Under this contract, Nippon-Rinshosha will continue its current medical book publishing business activities as a company within the Medical Tribune group.

Nippon-Rinshosha is a publishing company with a long history that started its business in April 1943 and celebrated its 70th anniversary in 2013; it engages in the publication and sales on commission of regular journals and books related to medical science and pharmaceutical science, as well as other related businesses. In particular, the medical journal “Nippon-Rinsho,” which began in June 1943, is a representative publication of the company and the number of the journal volumes exceeded 1,000 in 2011. It has been a long-time favorite of medical personnel.

Takeda has been seeking an optimal partner for Nippon-Rinshosha, in order for Nippon-Rinshosha to develop its business by pursuing synergy in business through partnership with a company that, similar to Nippon-Rinshosha, provides information related to medical and pharmaceutical sciences to medical personnel.

Medical Tribune is involved in, among other items, the publication of newspapers, magazines, books, and web media in the field of medical science. Medical Tribune will be able to provide information related to medical and pharmaceutical sciences to more medical personnel by using the resources and knowledge of Nippon-Rinshosha effectively, and therefore the agreement with Takeda was concluded to transfer shares of Nippon-Rinshosha to Medical Tribune at this time.

Moving forward, Medical Tribune will cooperate with Nippon-Rinshosha and continue to provide highly reliable and high quality information on the medical and pharmaceutical sciences to even greater numbers of medical personnel.
