Transfer of Takeda Analytical Research Laboratories business to Sumika Chemical Analysis Services

Osaka, Japan, March 31, 2014 – Takeda Pharmaceutical Company Limited (“Takeda”) and Takeda Analytical Research Laboratories, Ltd. (Head office: Yodogawa-ku, Osaka; “TARL”), a wholly owned subsidiary of Takeda hereby announces the transfer of TARL’ s current business to Sumika Chemical Analysis Service, Ltd. (Head office: Chuo-ku, Osaka; “SCAS”) under the agreement concluded with SCAS. After closing the deal, TARL will transfer all of its business operations to SCAS.

TARL was established in 1987 as a comprehensive analytics company, spun off from the analytical research arm of Takeda's Research Division. With state-of-the-art analytical equipment and expertise, TARL has been conducting essential analyses for all stages of pharmaceutical research, development and manufacture as well as a wide range of test analyses in accordance with pharmacopeia and other official formularies worldwide.

Takeda is evolving into a truly global pharmaceutical company that can achieve sustainable growth by becoming highly competitive in all aspects of business globally. Given the situation, and after deliberation on its own future business potential, TARL has concluded that integration with SCAS would be beneficial for greater business growth for both TARL and SCAS, and has decided to transfer its business to SCAS, and Takeda has decided to endorse such decision accordingly. SCAS is one of the largest integrated analytical companies in Japan, which has top standard of technology and expertise, ample experience and a proven track record in the analytical aspects of pharmaceutical research and development.

There is no revision to Takeda's financial forecast of FY2013 due to the business transfer.
