Actos is used in the management of type 2 diabetes not controlled by diet and helps to control the level of glucose in your blood. This is the 'adult onset' type of diabetes and is controlled by diet, certain oral medications and occasionally insulin. This medicine is also called pioglitazone and belongs to a group of medicines called glitazones which decrease insulin resistance.
Adcetris® (brentuximab vedotin)
Adcetris is used to treat certain types of Hodgkin Lymphoma and systemic Anaplastic Large Cell Lymphoma. Hodgkin lymphoma and systemic anaplastic large cell lymphoma are both types of cancer of the white blood cells. Adcetris may also be used to lower the likelihood of Hodgkin lymphoma coming back after a stem cell transplant in patients with certain risk factors.
Entyvio contains the active substance vedolizumab, a monoclonal antibody. Monoclonal antibodies are proteins that recognise and bind to certain special proteins in the body. Entyvio binds to a protein called integrin α4β7 present on certain white blood cells. Integrin α4β7 can act to increase inflammation seen in ulcerative colitis and Crohn's disease. Entyvio works by blocking α4β7 integrins and so reduces inflammation. Entyvio is used to treat the signs and symptoms of moderate to severe ulcerative colitis and Crohn's disease in adults who have not responded well enough or are intolerant to other treatments.
Nesina® (alogliptin benzoate) and Nesina Met® (alogliptin benzoate / metformin hydrochloride)
Nesina is used to lower blood sugar levels in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus. It must be taken together with other antidiabetic medicines, such as sulfonylureas (e.g. glipizide, glimepiride, glibenclamide), metformin and/or thiazolidinediones (e.g. pioglitazone) or insulin with or without metformin. Nesina and Nesina Met is used when your blood sugar cannot be adequately controlled by diet, exercise and one or more of these other antidiabetic medicines. Nesina contains the active ingredient alogliptin, which is a member of a class of medicines called DPP-4 inhibitors (dipeptidyl peptidase-4 inhibitors), that lowers blood sugar levels in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus.
Somac® and Panto® (pantoprazole)
Somac and Panto are used to treat duodenal and gastric ulcers and may also be used to prevent ulcers associated with the use of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) and treat reflux oesophagitis or reflux disease. Reflux can cause a burning sensation in the chest rising up to the throat, also known as heartburn. Somac and Panto are also used to treat a rare condition called Zollinger-Ellison syndrome, where the stomach produces large amounts of acid. This medicine belongs to a group of medicines called proton pump inhibitors (PPIs) and works by decreasing the amount of acid the stomach makes..
Somac® Heartburn Relief (pantoprazole)
Somac Heartburn Relief is used for symptomatic relief of frequent heatburn and stomach acid complaints due to gastro-oesophageal reflux disease (GORD). Somac Heartburn Relief belongs to a group of medicines called proton pump inhibitors (PPIs) and works by decreasing the amount of acid the stomach makes to give relief from the symptoms.
Condyline is used to treat warts in the genital region. These warts can occur in both men and women and are caused by the human papilloma virus. On the penis, the warts can form on the foreskin, shaft, or end of the penis. In women, the warts can form on the external areas of the vagina and vulva. These warts can also occur in the anal region of men and women. Condyline Paint contains podophyllotoxin, a plant extract which works by destroying the skin cells in the warts.
TachoSil® (human fibrinogen / human thrombin)
TachoSil is used during surgery to stop local bleeding (haemostasis). TachoSil contains the two active ingredients human fibrinogen and human thrombin, which are proteins normally found in the blood.
