Takeda’s Deerfield Campus Ranked Among 2013 Working Mother 100 Best Companies

September 17, 2013

Company recognized for best-in-class benefits to keep working mothers engaged and productive

Deerfield, Ill., September 17, 2013 – Takeda Pharmaceuticals today announced Working Mother has listed Takeda among the top 100 companies for working mothers. Takeda’s Deerfield campus was included based on a comprehensive suite of family-friendly benefits that support the company’s many working mothers in their contributions to the company, including onsite childcare, career counseling and mentorship, comprehensive health insurance for their families and flexible work hours, among many others.

“I’m proud Takeda has been recognized for our commitment to our people—working mothers and all of us who need comprehensive benefits and flexibility to have a successful career and a meaningful life,” said Laurene Giagnorio, senior vice president of human resources and administration. “We are honored to be recognized as one of Working Mother’s 100 Best Companies and will continue to foster a collaborative and inclusive environment where every working mother can enjoy both career and family.”

One of the differentiating benefits Takeda offers is its state-of-the-art, award-winning, on-site child care facility that has been certified as Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) by the U.S. Green Building Council. The center provides a beautiful place for children to discover and learn, as well as develop environmentally-friendly habits. This facility is located within walking distance of Takeda’s U.S. headquarters and features accredited preschool and kindergarten programs that provide working parents convenience and peace of mind, knowing they can be with their children at a moment’s notice, if needed.

In addition to offering challenging, rewarding work, Takeda supports working mothers at its Deerfield campus with flexible work paths and several onsite lactation rooms. Takeda offers adoption assistance and reimbursement for in vitro services. Takeda also sponsors two employee networks – Parents’ Partnership Group and Takeda Women’s Network – to support parents in the workplace and the advancement of women. Takeda designed a formal year-round modified workweek, allowing employees to work four nine-hour workdays and a half-day on Fridays to enjoy more weekend time with family and friends. Takeda expects that there are times when the needs of family, home and children transcend work, and offers a work environment that enables employees to take care of themselves and their families, while meeting career expectations.
