We take pride in our long history of supporting nonprofit organizations through corporate giving, employee volunteerism and employee giving. Our Growing Communities program enables us to make meaningful contributions in support of the communities where we live and work in the U.S., aiming to build deep, impactful relationships with our partners. Corporate Giving
Takeda partners with community-focused nonprofit organizations that understand local needs and are positioned to drive lasting and meaningful change. Our corporate giving is focused on expanding access to nutritious food through our Food is Health pillar, helping to create healthier, more equitable communities for generations to come.
At Takeda, we believe that access to nutritious food is foundational to long-term health and community wellbeing. Our Food is Health pillar reflects research showing that nutrition significantly influences health outcomes and can reduce avoidable healthcare costs, reinforcing the powerful, complementary relationship between nutritious food and modern medicine.
Through partnerships with community-based organizations, we help ensure that individuals and families have access to nutritious, culturally appropriate and medically tailored food, whether they are managing chronic conditions like diabetes and cardiovascular disease or simply striving to maintain good health. These approaches not only support physical health but also strengthen mental wellbeing and reduce the financial and emotional strain that food insecurity creates.
Our commitment extends beyond meeting immediate needs. We invest in long-term, community-designed solutions — from urban farms and gardens to medically tailored meals — that expand fresh food access with dignity. By supporting these sustainable local systems, we help ensure that no individual or family goes hungry, regardless of location or income level, and we contribute to stronger, more resilient communities over time.
As our strategy has evolved to concentrate on Food is Health, we remain proud of and committed to our existing Building STEM Foundations partners. While we are no longer expanding our portfolio in this area, we will continue to support these multi-year partnerships through their completion.
High-quality STEM education has the power to transform communities, including expanding pathways to financial stability, economic mobility and providing the skills needed to address society’s most pressing challenges. Our Building STEM Foundations focus emphasizes equitable access to quality math education — because math is the language of science, and too many students from historically marginalized communities lack access to the resources, confidence and support they need to succeed.
To address these disparities, we partner with organizations focused on K–12 math proficiency, teacher training and real-world, hands-on learning experiences that make math engaging, accessible and relevant. These programs are designed to boost students’ confidence, strengthen foundational skills and prepare young people for a future shaped by science and technology.
Together with our partners, we are laying the groundwork for a brighter future through education, ensuring that every student has the opportunity to discover their potential and make a meaningful impact on the world.

What are Takeda’s U.S. philanthropic focus areas?
Our active grantmaking is focused on Food is Health, where we invest in community-designed solutions that expand access to nutritious food. We continue to support our existing Building STEM Foundations partners for the duration of their current grants, but we are no longer expanding our portfolio in this area.
Does Takeda support organizations in specific geographical areas?
We mainly support nonprofit organizations that operate in or near our major facilities in Greater Boston, Chicago, Los Angeles, Atlanta and Brooklyn Park, MN. We also partner with some organizations that have a national reach.
How does an organization apply for philanthropic grants?
Our grant program is by invitation only to support deepening our work with existing community partners. How does an organization apply for sponsorships (for events, galas or fundraisers)?
If you’re interested in applying for an event sponsorship, please apply through Takeda’s Sponsorship Request System. We’re only able to consider requests that have completed an application in the request system.
Empowering Our People to Give Back
Our commitment to community doesn't stop with our corporate giving — it's brought to life by our employees every single day. Our employees contribute tens of thousands of volunteer hours each year, serving on nonprofit boards, mentoring students and rolling up their sleeves in the communities where they live and work. We make it easy and meaningful to get involved, offering paid volunteer time, financial matching for charitable giving and rewards that turn volunteer hours into dollars for the causes our employees care about most.
Employee Matching Gifts
Takeda matches employee contributions made to eligible nonprofit organizations.
Volunteer Rewards
Employees earn $10 for every hour volunteered, redeemable as a donation to a U.S. nonprofit of their choice.
Volunteer Paid Time Off
Employees receive up to 16 hours of paid time off each year to volunteer for the causes they care about.
