Shire plc (LSE: SHP, NASDAQ: SHPGY), the global specialty biopharmaceutical company, in accordance with the requirements of Rule 4.1 of the Disclosure and Transparency Rules of the UK Financial Services Authority, releases as an Appendix to this announcement a business review for the year ended December 31, 2009, a description of principal risks and uncertainties affecting Shire and the directors’ responsibility statement.

Shire has previously announced un-audited full year results for the year ended December 31, 2009, prepared in accordance with US generally accepted accounting principles, on February 19, 2010.
