Takeda Donates more than $130,000 to Local, Regional Charities at Annual Takeda Cares Day Event

Deerfield, Ill., October 5, 2018 – Takeda Pharmaceuticals U.S.A., Inc. announced today that it will donate more than $130,000 to local and regional nonprofits as part of its annual corporate giving fundraiser, Takeda Cares Day.

As part of the Takeda Cares Day event, employees will run or walk a 5K course around the company’s Deerfield campus to raise money for organizations that support health, science education and community vitality.

“We’re a company with strong values that’s committed to improving patient outcomes as well as being a good corporate citizen, and we know how much our employees value opportunities to connect with our communities across the U.S”, said Sandy Rodriguez, vice president of corporate communications at Takeda Pharmaceuticals U.S.A., Inc.  “Takeda Cares Day is really about much more than the day itself, it’s a celebration of our employees, who volunteer their time year-round, as well as Takeda’s support of community partners where our employees live and work.”

To mark the day, the company’s employees voted to donate $30,000 each to Thresholds, a social-service agency dedicated to meeting the needs of homeless women and children, Arden Shore Child and Family Services, who are experts in behavioral health, substance abuse and foster care, and Lake County Haven, a social-service agency dedicated to meeting the needs of homeless women and children. Takeda also announced a donation of $25,000 to the American Red Cross to support Hurricane Florence relief efforts. A number of smaller donations were made to organizations where employees had volunteered their time this summer in Lake County and across the country.

In addition to its annual Takeda Cares Day event, Takeda also donates more than $1 million annually to local, regional and national charities.
