Festival of Wellbeing promotes physical and mental wellbeing to over 200 local school children

25 January 2018

On Thursday 25th January, over 200 children from seven local schools convened at the Magnet Leisure Centre, Maidenhead, for a Festival of Wellbeing.

The day-long Festival provided children with the opportunity to try out a range of different sports, ensuring that even the least confident child could find an activity that they enjoyed and wanted to continue in the longer term. Sports available to try on the day included basketball, fencing, taekwondo, handball and yoga, with taster sessions run by representatives from local sports clubs. The Festival of Wellbeing was also attended by the Worshipful the Mayor and the Mayoress Consort of the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead (Councillor and Mrs Lenton) and forms Phase Two of the ‘Active Communities, Brighter Future’ initiative, which was launched last year by national charity, SportInspired, and local business, Takeda UK.
