Newly designed office space to foster innovation, collaboration and teamwork
OAKVILLE, Ontario – May 30, 2017 – Takeda Canada Inc., the Canadian sales and marketing organization of Takeda Pharmaceutical Company Limited which has a global presence in over 70 countries, officially inaugurates its new headquarters in Oakville, Ontario today. The move to the new office space takes place as the company is transforming to become an agile specialty care pharmaceutical company, specializing in oncology and gastroenterology.
The new headquarters occupy the top floor of 2201 Bristol Circle in the north-eastern corner of Oakville, based in the community where many Takeda Canada employees live. The official opening will be celebrated in the presence of employees, local business leaders and Oakville Mayor, Rob Burton.
“The decision to move was made with our employees in mind. We chose to stay in Oakville because of our history here and because for many on our team, Oakville is considered home. The new Takeda Canada office fosters collaboration and team work - essential attributes to achieving our goal of becoming the leading company in our areas of focus among patients, physicians and other stakeholders,” said Chatrick Paul, General Manager of Takeda Canada. “We wanted an inspirational office which is why it was designed around our therapeutic areas in a way that encourages cross-functional team work. Our objective is to create the best organization and the best work environment for the Takeda Canada team.”

The move to the new offices meant several pieces of artwork and other items from the previous location could not be part of the move. To manage this and simultaneously support the community, a silent auction was held among employees for these items, with the funds raised going to charities. Enthusiastic bidding on many items raised more than $14,000 by Takeda employees and was donated to Women’s Habitat, Habitat for Humanity and Links2Care. Representatives of the charities will attend the office inauguration ceremonies.
The office design and selection of the location takes into consideration the organizational health and wellbeing of Takeda Canada employees. Employees have access to an abundance of natural light throughout and the design incorporates a mix of types of workspaces that reflect the company’s culture including work stations, collaborative spaces, closed offices and hoteling spaces. It was specifically designed to encourage collaboration and sharing of ideas between employees from different departments working in the same therapeutic areas.
The interior design of the offices was entrusted to Bennett Design Associates of Uxbridge, Ontario. The team at Bennett captured insights from employees through their Workplace Strategy Consulting process called d.i.g.™ and translated that knowledge into credible and relevant design that supports the business and our people now and into the future.
The new offices occupy 27,600 square feet for approximately 65 full-time employees and includes hoteling, meeting and training facilities for the company’s field employees who are based across Canada. The latest technology facilitates communication and collaboration among all Takeda employees across the country, as well as Takeda colleagues anywhere around the world.
