Takeda Canada applauds success of 20th annual Gutsy Walk for Crohn’s and Colitis fundraising event

August 5, 2015
OAKVILLE, Ontario – June 8, 2015 – Takeda Canada commends Crohn’s and Colitis Canada for the success of the group’s 20th annual fundraising Gutsy Walk for Crohn’s and Colitis.  This year’s event was  held on Sunday, June 7, at 60 locations across Canada and the goal for this year is to raise more than $3 million.

Teams of walkers and individuals of all ages collect donations and pledges and gather for a fun-filled walk that raises much-needed funds.  The annual event also provides those affected with Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis an opportunity to meet and get to know each other while collectively supporting an important cause.

Along with marking the 20th anniversary of the successful and still-growing annual event, this year’s walk was the occasion for the launch of the most ambitious fundraising campaign ever by Crohn’s and Colitis Canada – a drive to raise $100 million for transformational research, education and advocacy. The campaign is called “Crohn’s and Colitis – Make it Stop. For Life.” The goal is for every child and adult with these diseases to live life to the fullest and ultimately to be cured.

“Takeda Canada is proud to be associated with the Gutsy Walk for Crohn’s and Colitis as one of the event’s national sponsors.  It’s an important event for the organization and Takeda recognizes this which is why we encourage volunteer participation of our employees,” said Mike Egli, President of Takeda Canada Inc. “We congratulate everyone who organized and took part in this worthy cause. Crohn’s disease and colitis take a big toll on patients and their families, so Takeda Canada is very pleased to help raise awareness by supporting this cross-Canada effort.”
