The list is compiled annually by the editors of Canada’s Top 100 Employers and evaluates Toronto-area based companies using the same criteria as for the national list to discover those companies which “offer exceptional places to work.”
“Takeda Canada is very pleased and proud to be recognized again as a Top Employer in the GTA,” said Mike Egli, President of Takeda Canada Inc. “This doesn’t happen by accident. We work very hard to foster an environment to bring out the best in our employees. It’s good for them and also good for our business.”
Takeda places a strong emphasis on a variety of programs that benefit employees personally and which help them perform their jobs better or more efficiently. For instance, Takeda has an exceptional health and benefit program, which includes assistance to parents who adopt, including time off and a subsidy to help cover the cost of adoption.
Takeda employees are also encouraged to volunteer in their community and are offered up to five paid days off per year to do so. Employee communications, performance management and training are also emphasized, all adding to a strong culture that is aligned to internal values that are centred on integrity and high ethical standards.
“A fully engaged and motivated workforce is vital to achieving success in today’s business environment and particularly in the healthcare field in which we operate,” said Adele Zita, Vice-President of Human Resources of Takeda Canada Inc. “To do that we value teamwork and personal expression, and support professional development in an environment of respect and integrity. I’m very proud of our team at Takeda Canada.”
About the GTA Top Employers
Any employer of any size, either in the private or public sector, with its head office or principal place of business in the Greater Toronto Area may apply for this competition. The competition defines the GTA as including the City of Toronto and the Regional Municipalities of York, Halton, Peel and Durham. All companies are evaluated using the same eight criteria as for the national Top Employers competition: physical workplace; work atmosphere and social activities; health, financial and family benefits; vacation and time off; employee communications; performance management; training and skills development; and community involvement. Employers are compared to other organizations in their field to determine which offers the most progressive and forward-thinking programs.
