ISPE Pharma 4.0TM Emerging Leader Hackathon 2022 bei Takeda in Orth an der Donau

Orth an der Donau, am 14. Dezember 2022 – Der ISPE Pharma 4.0™ Emerging Leader Hackathon 2022 für Studierende und Hochschulabsolvent*innen fand am 5. und 6. Dezember bei dem biopharmazeutischen Unternehmen Takeda an seinem Biotech-Campus in Orth an der Donau, Niederösterreich, statt. Coaches und Sponsoren der folgenden Unternehmen gewährleisteten den branchenübergreifenden Austausch: Hamilton, Siemens, Endress+Hauser, Biosolve, Copa-Data, Biopharm Services, Sartorius, DataHow, Tulip, FrontWell Solutions und Applied Materials.

Der ISPE Emerging Leader Hackathon

Das Hauptziel dieses regelmäßigen, internationalen Veranstaltungsformats der International Society for Pharmaceutical Engineering (ISPE) besteht darin, neue Lösungen zu erforschen, die sich an den aktuellen Themen der Pharmaindustrie orientieren. Der ISPE-Hackathon erstreckt sich in der Regel über zwei Tage. Die Teilnehmer*innen finden sich in Gruppen zusammen und arbeiten an bestimmten Problemstellungen der Industrie. Die innovativen Ergebnisse werden von einer Jury bewertet, die die beste Lösung prämiert.

Erster Hands-On Hackathon in Österreich

Dieser Hackathon bei dem Gastgeber Takeda in Orth an der Donau ging mit der ISPE Pharma 4.0™ Konferenz in Wien einher. Mehr als 50 Studierende und Young Professionals aus unterschiedlichen Studienrichtungen und verschiedenen Ländern nahmen daran teil. Unter dem Titel "A Hands-on Pharma 4.0 Blueprint Manufacturing Exercise where Digital and Quality matters" sorgte er für ein Live-Erlebnis in den Labors vor Ort. Die verschiedenen Arbeitsabläufe konzentrierten sich auf innovative und patient*innenzentrierte Ergebnisse mit dem Fokus auf Prioritäten im Produktions- und Unternehmensumfeld, darunter datengetriebene und papierlose Produktion, automatisierte Arbeitsabläufe und In-Prozess-Kontrollen, Plug and Produce, Real-Time Monitoring und Release sowie Quality by Design. Jeder Work Stream wurde von den Industriepartner*innen und Coaches unterstützt. Ziel des Hackathons war es, verschiedene Aspekte von Pharma 4.0™ zu erforschen und einen ganzheitlichen Manufacturing Blueprint zu konzeptionieren. Das Gewinnerteam präsentierte neue Ansätze in den Bereichen Simulation und Datenanalyse und stellte einen Business Case mit dem Ziel vor, die Produktivität in der Herstellung zu steigern und die Zeit bis zur Markteinführung von Produkten zu verkürzen.

Marian Bendik, Leiter des Takeda Standortes in Orth an der Donau, berichtet: "Es war eine große Freude, so viele motivierte, engagierte und gut ausgebildete Talente bei der Arbeit zu sehen. Wir waren sehr stolz darauf, diesen hands-on Hackathon zum ersten Mal in Österreich auszurichten und den Teilnehmer*innen die Möglichkeit zu geben, vor Ort in unseren Entwicklungslaboren zu arbeiten. Die Aufgaben waren anspruchsvoll und alle fünf Gruppen haben großartige Arbeit geleistet. Die entwickelten Lösungen sind innovativ und zeigen die Möglichkeiten von Pharma 4.0."

Orth an der Donau, December 14th 2022 – The ISPE Pharma 4.0™ Emerging Leader Hackathon 2022 for students and recent graduates was held on 5-6 December hosted by the biopharmaceutical company Takeda at its biotech campus in Orth an der Donau, Austria. Additional coaches and sponsors from Hamilton, Siemens, Endress+Hauser, Biosolve, Copa-Data, Biopharm Services, Sartorius, DataHow, Tulip, FrontWell Solutions and Applied Materials ensured a collaborative experience.

About the ISPE Emerging Leader Hackathon

The main objective of the regular ISPE Hackathons is to explore novel solutions, build knowledge and an innovative culture aligned with trending topics in the pharmaceutical industry. An ISPE Hackathon usually runs over the course of two days. Participants get together in groups and work on specific industry challenges. The innovative outcomes are evaluated by a jury who selects the best solution for an award.

First Hands-On Hackathon in Austria

This Hackathon hosted by Takeda in Orth an der Donau was aligned with the upcoming ISPE Pharma 4.0™ conference in Vienna. More than 50 students and young professionals from different disciplines and countries participated. Under the title “A Hands-on Pharma 4.0 Blueprint Manufacturing Exercise where Digital and Quality matters” it ensured a live laboratory experience. The different work streams focused on innovative and patient-centric results aligned with priorities in the manufacturing and business environment including data-driven and paperless production, automated workflows and in-process controls, plug and produce, real-time monitoring and release and Quality by Design. Each work stream was supported by the industry partners and coaches. The objective of the Hackathon was to explore different aspects of Pharma 4.0™ and conceptualize a holistic manufacturing blueprint. The winner team showcased new approaches on Simulation and Data Analytics by presenting a business case with the objectives to increase productivity for manufacturing and to reduce time-to-market for products.
