Leaders in Global Health Interview Series: Peter Sands, Executive Director, Global Fund
Mr. Peter Sands became Executive Director of the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria in March 2018. Previously, Mr. Sands was CEO of Standard Chartered (2006-2015). Prior to that, he rose up the ranks at McKinsey & Co. in London between 1988-2002, becoming a Director in 2000. He was a Senior Fellow at the Harvard John F. Kennedy School of Government and was Lead Non-Executive Director on the board of the United Kingdom’s Department of Health. He also chaired the International Commission on a Global Health Risk Framework for the Future and has served on many other boards and commissions, such as Governor of the National Institute of Economic and Social Research, and Chairman of the Regulation Committee of the Institute of International Finance (IIF).
