Global CSR Program 2023: Partners In Health | Takeda Pharmaceuticals

Nurses are the largest group of health care professionals globally at almost 28 million, and often the first and only contact patients have with the health care system. And yet, while women comprise nearly 90 percent of the global nursing workforce, only 31% of ministries of health (and similar institutions) are led by women. In many health systems around the world, particularly those in low-income countries, nurses have limited career growth opportunities, and few have meaningful access to develop and exercise leadership acumen. Despite being providers of frontline health care, nurses are not the drivers of clinical decision-making, health policy formation, and resource allocation. This Partners In Health program will provide nurses and midwives with a combination of mentorship, fellowship, credentialing, and policy work that spans local, national, and international spheres of influence. This project will help achieve more equitable, sustainable, and effective health systems as these nurses will be trained and mentored to become change-makers and contribute to policy evolution within health care facilities, universities and governmental entities.
