OSAKA, JAPAN, September 24, 2003 --- Takeda Chemical Industries, Ltd. This move will be made to establish an organization that can fully respond to rapidly changing health care environment, and to be able to conduct the promotional activities of the best quality in the core therapeutic fields of Takeda.

1.156-Representative-Office Organization
  - The representative offices will be reorganized, increasing the number from the current 84 to 156 -

* Each office will cover a smaller area to enable closer contact with the market, contributing to local medical services through assistance for coordination between general practitioners and specialized medical institutions.
* Approximately 10 medical representatives (MR) will be assigned to each office, and the office manager will provide detailed training and instruction directly to the MRs to improve their quality.

2.Smoother Organizational Structure
  - The middle management layer (team leaders) between office managers and MRs will be abolished for a more level organization -

*Reducing the number of layers will increase the speed with which information is transmitted and new knowledge is shared, to better meet the various needs of the medical profession.
*Under the new system, the team leader, who currently is conducting promotional activities, and also supervising MRs, will be an Expert MR, Takedafs highest ranked MR in terms of promotional skills and expertise, responsible solely for promotional activities. We anticipate significant strengthening of promotional activities.

Takeda's Pharmaceutical Marketing Division is striving to fulfill its fundamental philosophy of "Providing the finest information and medicine to every medical profession and patient," to respond to rapidly changing health care environment through providing the high-quality information.
