Osaka, Japan, November 27, 2009 - Takeda Pharmaceutical Company Limited (“Takeda”) announced that the London Symphony Orchestra (“LSO”) and Takeda jointly won the British Council Arts & Business International Award. The Award recognizes the success of a global-level partnership that builds brand reputation and audience for the arts organization and business partner across international borders.
Takeda is a Principal Partner of the LSO and the relationship has made possible 192 Takeda sponsored LSO concerts world-wide since 1989.
Also, in the last few years, the collaboration has included a corporate citizenship program ‘Musicians on Call’ enabling the LSO to take music to people around the world who, for reasons of ill-health, are unable to reach the concert hall.
Yasuchika Hasegawa, President & CEO, Takeda Pharmaceutical Company Limited said: ‘It is a great honor for us to receive the British Council Arts & Business International Award. Through Takeda’s long-term partnership with the LSO, we are proud of the groundbreaking international tours Takeda Global Concert series to the US, Europe, and Japan, and also Musicians on Call as one of our corporate citizenship activities.’
Kathryn McDowell, Managing Director of the LSO, has said “We go to Japan at least every other year. The relationship with Takeda is extremely strong and very much in tune with Takeda’s investment in health and wellbeing. We are both committed to improving people’s quality of life.”
