Takeda Established a New Company for Clinical Development in the Asia-Oceania Region

Osaka, Japan, September 25, 2008--- Takeda Pharmaceutical Company Limited ("Takeda") today announced the establishment of a wholly-owned subsidiary, "Takeda Clinical Research Singapore Private Limited." (TCRS) in the Republic of Singapore to serve as its center of clinical development in the Asia-Oceania region. TCRS will be responsible for clinical development operations in that region, in close coordination with the Takeda Pharmaceutical Company Limited, Takeda Global Research & Development Center Inc. in the United States, and Takeda Global Research & Development Centre (Europe) Limited.

It is one of key strategic priorities for Takeda to develop an optimal structure for its global clinical development operations as well as global applications and approvals of new products for manufacture and sales. Through reinforcement of its clinical development operations in the Asia-Oceania region by TCRS, Takeda is aiming to improve its performance in enrolling subjects on a global scale, in order to achieve the earliest possible application, approval and launch of its new product in the markets of Japan, the U.S., and Europe as well as those of other Asian countries.

At the same time, TCRS will work closely with Takeda Pharmaceuticals Asia Private Limited, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Takeda for overall sales and marketing in Asia that has also been established in Singapore. In addition, in close coordination with Takeda’s sales and marketing subsidiaries in five Asian countries, TCRS will strive to obtain approvals of its products in the way of the needs of Asian markets, and also implement life-cycle management strategies to maximize the added value of such products.
