TAKEDA to Start the Global Leadership Training Program

Osaka, Japan, April 13, 2007 --- Takeda Pharmaceutical Company Limited ("Takeda") announced today the start of its group-wide global leadership training program called "Takeda Leadership Institute" ("TLI") with the support of INSEAD, which is one of the world's leading graduate business schools.

TLI is positioned as core part of training program for nurturing leaders for whole Takeda group and represents a part of Takeda’s initiatives for human resources management. TLI started this week with the first group of participants in Singapore where INSEAD has its Asia campus. Under TLI, the selected pool of participants from all the Takeda group companies will be developed with the objectives including:

  • 1. To have clear vision of leadership so that such leaders can become good examples of leaders in the Takeda Group.
  • 2. To understand differences of culture and business environment in each part of the world, and to learn how to improve cross-cultural communication.
  • 3. To facilitate building up global human network

"We are pleased to start TLI with the participants from our subsidiaries in the U.S., Europe and Asia as well as those from headquarters in Japan, and this fact is really symbolic as TLI is our initiative on a global scale", said Yasuchika Hasegawa, President of Takeda. "We believe this program will surely contribute to realization of one of the management tasks set forth in our 2006-2010 Medium-Term Management Plan; Securing the human resources pipeline necessary for global operation."

On both campuses, faculty conduct leading-edge research projects with the support of 16 Centres of Excellence.
