Takeda is working diligently to address the various issues outlined in the Takeda Group Environmental Action Plan, which sets out medium- to long-term targets for environmental preservation. The issues targeted include CO2 emissions, waste reduction (to keep the amount of waste for final disposal in fiscal 2015 at or below the fiscal 2010 level), management of chemical substances (to reduce the amount released into the environment), and protection of air and water quality (compliance with emissions standards and total emissions regulations; reduction of NOx, SOx, and COD emissions). At the same time, Takeda is continuing to strengthen environmental governance, including by formulating guidelines based on the Global EHS Policy. With respect to water resource conservation, Takeda will tackle issues of both usage amount and water quality. We will also expedite our review of disaster prevention systems, reflecting the lessons of the Great East Japan Earthquake.
