Many pregnant mothers and patients in remote areas of Rwanda still walk long distances or over 60 minutes to reach the nearest health facility. To address this issue, the government of Rwanda and SFH Rwanda conceived the idea of establishing rural clinics known as health posts (HP) at the community level. Despite this solution, the majority of existing health posts are categorized as first-generation HPs, which offer limited-service packages to the beneficiaries. This program aims to upgrade 20 HPs in Rwanda into financially sustainable Second-Generation Health Posts (SGHPs) within a 30-minute walk of community members under a public-private-community-partnership model. This will ensure expansion in accessibility and increase the quality of health care services for people living in remote and hard-to-reach communities.
